A total of 481 graduates were ushered to the global community. They had studied both through classroom, blended as well as distance learning campus. Eswatini native, Sipho Twala walked away as the highest achiever.

Twala completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Network Security and Computer Forensics.

Meanwhile, giving a keynote address during the graduation ceremony, Leshego Group Chief Executive Officer, Aupa Monyatsi commended Botho University (BU) for having successfully held past two graduations virtually due to the technological prowess it possess pointing out that it is equally desirable to celebrate physically this time around.

“Let me start by congratulating all those who will receive there academic awards today and commend families, all those who contributed to your success, and the faculty for the support, sacrifice and patience endured during your academic journey. Pay it forward to your younger siblings, cousins, friends and indeed your own children. Create a similar conducive environment for them to ensure continuity of human resource development for our country and beyond”, said Monyatsi.

Botho University’s physical graduation comes in a year that the university is celebrating its 25th anniversary. This is a great milestone that the institution has achieved as it started from humble beginnings in 1997 and grew over 25 years to be the giant it is today. Starting as a single discipline institute did not deter the university management from aiming high. It is with great determination and resilience that BU grew in leaps and bounds to be a multi-disciplinary college and ultimately a fully-fledged university with four faculties.

Monyatsi encouraged the graduates to keep on their good work indicating that despite the social and economic challenges out there, they are lucky to have studied at BU, a university that puts extra effort through initiatives such as the Botho Graduate Profile (BGP) that ensures that they do not only acquire academic knowledge, but survival skills required by the job market.

“I believe that during your study at BU you took advantage of all opportunity accorded to yourselves. The resilience that your university showed during the tough and unprecedented times of COVID-19, is the resilience you should carry with yourselves as you begin to pursue your careers”, said Monyatsi

He revealed that based on some of the data released through the recent International Finance Corporation (IFC) employability study, Botho University scored a, “77% Institutional Employability Score, placing it at par with other African institutions. This is highly commendable and further go to demonstrate that BU is committed to creating value for government and national economy.”
