Mokoti made the remarks during the Kavimba Primary School prize-giving ceremony and BPC's official handing over of the school library.

“We appreciate the noble gesture of BPC very much.

We have 146 learners in this school which is a number that is easily managed in achieving academic excellence.

The school is underutilised and as such, we need more students. We have 10 teachers, nine non-teaching staff and nine Parent-Teacher Association members. This year marks the school's 50th anniversary.

Our relationship with BPC started in 2018 when BPC gave us more than 80 solar-powered bags. The bags came in handy for children who do not have access to electricity at their homes.

The bags helped them to study conveniently at night,” a jovial Mokoti said. Since the school’s relationship with BPC started in 2018, Mokoti explained, the school attained a Primary School leaving Examination (PSLE) pass rate of 89.8%, 85.7%, 85%, and 77% in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 respectively. “The pass rate of the school in the years since our relationship with BPC started is a clear testimony that the school has been performing exceptionally well even though the pass rate dropped a little bit in 2021 due to the disruptions to the education system that was brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our five-year marriage with BPC is very solid and we hope that it will continue to blossom in the future,” Mokoti said. “The bags that BPC gave us in the past have contributed significantly to the academic performance of our students.

The gesture of BPC is in line with government's 2036 Pillar of Education and Skills Development in which the society of Botswana will be knowledgeable with the relevant quality education that is outcome-based with an emphasis on technical and vocational skills as well as academic competencies (education with production).” The noble gesture of BPC, Mokoti emphasised, will go a long way in making the learning environment of Kavimba Primary School conducive to learning which will not only benefit the school but the nation at large.

“The government’s Vision 2036 Pillar of Human and Social Development emphasises the need for an intellectually savvy nation that is innovative and globally competitive. We thank BPC very much for helping towards the achievement of the government's 2036 Vision. The prizes that BPC will give to the learners will encourage them to put more effort into their school work.

This will also inspire students who did not get prizes to strive to achieve them in future,” Mokoti said.
