Even though many start during the day and some in the mornings, many performances start very late until the next morning. However, the upcoming Naked Soul Picnic is looking to break the norm.

The event will take place at the Gaborone Club in Village tomorrow from 10am. Addressing the members of the media, singer and event coordinator, Mpho Sebina said they have been hosting Naked Soul sessions since 2016 to date.

She explained that the event was always held as an intimate and open session for a small number of audiences. The Dinaledi hit maker further explained that this time around they decided to bring something different, adding that she believes the picnic would give revellers a chance to see their favourite artists performing broad day light.

She added that they wanted to provide a cozy, safe and fun-filled day for people that would let them enjoy their foods, drinks and company in a more relaxed manner.

The event would end at 10pm. “This year is our sixth year since our inception in 2016. In 2020 we were privileged enough to host our first digital series that featured about 10 Batswana artists but we also wanted to invite artists from the Southern Africa region. In that digital series we had artists like Jordan Moozy, Sebaga and myself.

This year we had our first show post COVID-19. We had our first show in July at Molapo Showcase and this year towards the end of the year we are planning a picnic that celebrates local artists in collaboration with South African artists,” she said.

For his part, the co-coordinator Rapula Kegopilwe the event is conducive for families. He explained that they did not cater for children since people would be drinking alcohol.

He, however, stated that parents that wanted to tag along their children should do so knowing that they would have to give them full attention. He also added that there would be drinks, food, cosmetics and fashion designers stall at the event where local entrepreneurs would be selling their services and products.

He assured the revellers that all the artists would perform on time, with the last performing artist's set scheduled for 5pm before Djs take over till closing time. Artists that would be performing at the event are Msaki, Abidoza, Mpho Sebina, Dato Seiko, Jordan Moozy and Zuziwe Mavuma.
