On September 9, the Zimbabwean mother’s one-roomed rented house caught fire following a gas cylinder explosion.

Then, the gas cylinder exploded when the young mother was preparing supper for her children, a two-year-old girl and a one-year-old boy.

Two days later, the two-year-old toddler succumbed to the injuries while the trio were hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital. On Wednesday, the young mother also succumbed to the burnt injuries leaving the one-year-old boy the sole survivor.

Confirming the mother’s death, Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said the little boy is recovering and is likely to be discharged from the hospital any time this week.
