Stubborn Vipers threaten Police

The match was part of the Southern Zone fixtures played at the BONA courts. Vipers were the first to draw blood a few seconds of play through their goal shooter, Kebonye Selogetso.
Police did not take long to get comfortable on the court and settled the score line to 1-1 through goal attacker, Golebaone Leteane. Police goal shooter, Patricia Ollyn was denied to score by Vipers keeper a few minutes later.
The side did not take long as Leteane made a smooth move to snatch the second goal a few minutes later. Ollyn and Leteane camped on Vipers inner cycle extending Police lead to 13-4 in 15 minutes of play.
Selogetso did not let the score line dampen her spirit as she scored from a long range for Vipers. The first quarter ended with Police leading 17-6. Police continued with their dominance in the second quarter as Pearl Maribe made a brilliant pass to Ollyn for a score.
Selogetso wanted to extend Vipers score but her attempt hit the hoop. On the other side of the court, Ollyn scored to extend Police lead to 29-14. By end of the quarter, Police was leading 30-14. After half time break, Vipers wanted to bring down the goal difference, as Selogetso switched to goal attack while Tidimalo Tabolane took over as goal shooter. Police also replaced Maribe and Ollyn. Leteane continued scoring extending Police lead to 35-19.
The stronger Vipers keeper did not bother the pint sized goal attacker. Vipers were trailing 40-24 as the quarter ended. Selogetso was on attack again only to hit the metal work with frustration starting to creep in.
Tabolane found her scoring charm and started banging goals for Vipers. Leteane extended the lead for the Jungle Queens to 44-30. The side was unstoppable causing havoc on their opponents winning the game 49-34.
Vipers assistant coach, Martin Gosalamang told Sport Monitor he was impressed by the performance of his side. “We played well and even the margin is not bad. We lost with dignity and our players were able to convert.
I made some changes in the GA and GS positions because I wanted someone who can drop back and assist mid court. I wanted someone who is mobile,” he said. In another development, Police coach, Tshegofatso Manyama said there was no game plan because it was not clear whether there were league games or not. “We were informed about this game on Friday night. Most of the senior players were not in and I used young players and they proved their worth. I made some changes in the second half in order to check the strength of other players,” Manyama said.
