Striped Horse Beer Bread

It is not to my surprise that when doing my research, it is apparent that bakers everywhere love this bread and it has been around for centuries.

The bread is moist, nicely dense and chewy, it is perfect for toast and sandwiches.

Beer bread is any bread that includes beer in the dough mixture. Depending on the type of beer used, it may or may not contribute leavening (a substance used in dough to make it rise) to the baking process.

Beer bread is a savoury quick bread that uses the carbonation in beer for its leavening agent along with the baking powder salt combo. Which I love and appreciate because as I have mentioned previously, I’m not too comfortable baking with yeast. Somehow I always feel I can strongly taste it in the bakes.

This bread on the other hand is buttery and delightful.

The yeast in the beer interacts with the sugar to help the bread to rise and the baking powder gives the bread an additional boost to keep it from becoming dense. I am so excited to share this irresistible buttery beer bread with you! It is so easy to make and no need to let the dough proof.

Yep! (proofing commonly refers to the final rise the dough undergoes, which takes place after being shaped into a loaf, and before it is baked. In practice, however, the words proof and fermentation are sometimes used interchangeably.

That’s the best part! Buttery beer bread is delicious and flavourful. Once you make your first loaf you will wonder why you haven’t made this yet and all the time.

It is one of the best homemade breads ever! My family wanted me to make a fresh loaf the next day.....and the next, lol. Beer can be a scary word for some people, but with this combination, it creates a homemade bread that skips the yeast process and has an end product with a taste that is unmatched. If you are not a beer fan in general, you don’t have to worry about the taste either. There is no beer taste in the bread, no alcohol either and no getting a little tipsy with this recipe. It is family friendly, kid friendly and full of flavour. On the flipside, if you do enjoy a beer with your meal, Striped Horse Premium is an amazing wash-down for this delicious bread.

Give it a try and see how amazed you will be! I made a batch for Independence Lunch with a spread, and drove out to Mabalane to enjoy with family. The bread was one of the highlights of the meal as well as the Nutriday granadilla mini Doughnuts. Let’s customise your bread! These variations are always fun suggestions on how to create more than just one recipe. Honey: A touch of honey creates a sweeter bread that is comforting and will melt in your mouth, it is that good! Herbs and seasonings:

Mix in your favourite fresh or dried herbs to have more flavours. Rosemary or thyme are some of my favourites! Garlic: Garlic seems to be in everything and loved by most. Add in a clove or two to the batter and smell it while it is baking! Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheese in the batter or over top and make a cheesy beer bread. Spicy: I do love a little heat. Add in jalapeños or green chilies for some spicy bread variations.
