The duo was heading towards the southern part of the country when the police intercepted them at the Dibete barrier gate during a stop, question, and search. Dibete Police Station commander, Superintendent Meshack Ranku said they suspect that the two might have stolen the cables but police investigations to establish where they stole the lines from are still ongoing.

"The duo revealed to be working together in the same company (name known to the police) in Mahalapye but the 36-year-old disclosed to be a resident of Selebi-Phikwe while the other resides in Mahalapye," Ranku indicated. He added that investigations into the matter are ongoing and the police are yet to confirm the duo's residence status.
