She ditched Batswana at the last minute. This follows after she abandoned a Gantsi show in July for a gig in the United Kingdom. The popular South African artist has once again pulled the same stunt, leaving three local shows stranded at the 11th hour.

Makhadzi had been booked to perform at three shows: Maun Carnival (tonight), The People’s Festival in Palapye, and Kumnandi Ekhaya Music Fest in Thamaga (both tomorrow on Independence Day). Batswana have been generous enough to forgive her after previous exploits, but she continues to stretch their patience with her antics. She had apologised after her first endeavour, but she has in return shown them the 'middle finger'.

In a live Facebook video in which she broke the news of her non-appearance, Makhadzi said she was 'sorry' she couldn’t make it to Botswana.

“I’m sorry I can’t make it to Bots. I know you bought tickets hoping to see Makhadzi, but I’m sorry I can’t make it because I have my own show here in South Africa which i have to prepare for. The other reason is that Botswana borders close early so, I know I can’t make it in time. My fans in Botswana know that when I’m booked, I come earlier,” she said.

Makhadzi is hosting a One Woman Show in her hometown of Vhenda at Makhuvha Stadium on October 1. On two occasions this year, Makhadzi nearly messed up local shows after arriving very late for her performances. This happened during her One Woman Show at the Royal Aria Stadium in Tlokweng in March and recently at the Gaborone International Music and Culture Week.

In an interview with one of the promoters of the affected events, Gilbert ‘PP wa Pimp’ Seagile, he said he is disappointed, but the show will continue as planned.

“There is nothing we can do because she has her reasons. The show will continue without her. She is a human being, so she is bound to have these kinds of situations in her life. We would definitely hold a make-up show with her in the future,” said PP wa Pimp.

PP wa Pimp said they have now reduced the ticket price to P100. Vee Mampeezy, Sdala B & Paige, and Slizer will now be the headliners.
