WA ratifies Letsile's 100m record

Tebogo ran 9.94 secs in the men’s 100m heats to set a then-new world junior record. The world athletics governing body had to ratify the feat before it became official.

Tebogo, who claimed his first senior continental title during the Africa Senior Championships that were held in Mauritius, then broke his own record at the World Athletics Under 20 championships in Cali, Colombia in August, stopping the clock at 9.91 to scoop gold. The 9.91 time is now awaiting ratification.

ebogo's ratification was done alongside other new records that Tobi Amusan of Nigeria for the women’s 100m hurdles record of 12.12, Mondo Duplantis (Sweden) in the men’s pole vault record of 6.21m, and Sydney McLaughlin (USA) women’s 400m hurdles record of 50.68 and 51.41 set.
