Speaking during a BCP rally in Selebi-Phikwe West on Saturday, Saleshando revealed that Boko deceived him before the 2019 General Election. “He took the UDC name, colours and logo and registered them as his private property.

The UDC is officially registered as Boko’s property together with his children. Those who say UDC or nothing are Boko’s children and property,” Saleshando said.

The BCP president, who was suspended alongside the party’s secretary-general Goretetse Kekgonegile in July, said they can’t have a cruel and wayward president. He said Phikwe West residents should not listen to people who sold their souls to Boko. He said Boko’s September 26 ultimatum is nothing but a plan devised for Boko to fabricate more charges against him and Kekgonegile.

A week ago Boko told UDC members in Mahalapye that their National Executive Committee (NEC), which now includes the newly welcomed Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF), has decided to give legislators and councillors until September 26 to decide where they stand. Boko emphasised they should write to the UDC and indicate whether or not they will contest the 2024 elections on the UDC ticket. “Our so-called suspension ends on September 26 and this is not a coincidence,” Saleshando indicated.

He said Boko, who also doubles as the Botswana National Front president, finds fault in everything and everyone but himself. “We can’t have a president like that. No wonder I am taking a step back,” Saleshando said.

The Maun West legislator added if people vote for either the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) or UDC they will be looking for unruly people. “Wa itlhophela gore ao tsaa chekwane kana o tsaa chekwane e ntsha.

Ao tsaa Masisi ka BDP kana o tsaa Masisinyana ka UDC,” he indicated. He said Boko doesn’t want regime change but rather “chekwane change”. He said if the BNF's founding father, Kenneth Koma were still alive he would call people like Boko 'Dichekwane'. “UDC has been running for 10 years without internal elections. Boko has long promised elections after 2019, but it has been years now,” he pointed out.

The suspended UDC vice president said Boko has now decided to cancel primary elections. He added some of the councillors who intend to leave the BCP for the UDC are happy because they will be handpicked without any election. “To refuse to hold elections by Boko is a sin, it is a hindrance to democracy. To take that decision alone as Boko is a bad omen. Boko is running the UDC like the biblical sinful cities Sodom and Gomorrah.

God will destroy the UDC the same way he annihilated the sinful Sodom and Gomorrah,” he highlighted. Saleshando added that they are not wrong after deciding to leave ‘Sodom’. “We cannot build in a sinful organisation which does not respect principles of democracy. Once Boko becomes President of Botswana he will cancel general elections, ” Saleshando said.
