Reached for comment, the Botswana Police Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube said on Friday evening, a 34-year-old male constable shot and killed his 36-year-old female colleague from Bokaa using his service rifle.

The officer then shot at and wounded another officer, 56, from Tatisiding before he turned the gun on himself.

However, The Monitor has established that on that fateful evening the shooter, a Ramokgwebana native, was allegedly on a trip in Maun where he stole a service car, drove to Sese Veterinary Gate where on arrival, fatally shot his married 36-year-old alleged girlfriend multiple times. Alarmed by the multiple gunshots, the on duty 56-year-old Sergeant reportedly tried to intervene but was also shot and wounded by the seemingly angry officer before he turned the gun on himself.

The surviving Sergeant is currently fighting for his life at the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital. Asked about the allegations, Motube said investigations into the matter are still fresh and they are yet to establish what transpired to motivate the shooting.
