Revamped Son Of The Soil returns

Organisers of the event, Bana ba Mmala Trust said the long-craved preparations are already in full-swing for its comeback. Speaking during a press conference recently, the Trust chairman, David Kepaletswe said the next edition will be held under a revamped status.

He stated that they have partnered with Beat Box Productions to revamp the event and make it appeal once again. “In recognising the brand that SOTS represents, we felt we needed a partner who will assist in the revamping of the event.

So, we felt for that to be attained, it needed proper planning and that’s why we partnered with Beat Box Productions,” said Kepaletswe. Kepaletswe said while they want to revamp SOTS, they will not tamper with its original identity. Founder of Beat Box Productions DJ Boogie Sid said their job will entail packaging the event in such a way that it appeals to the youth.

He said all they do will have to be within the context of what SOTS stands for. “Son of The Soil is an iconic brand. It is the mother of all cultural events. So, in line with that we have our work cut to stage a successful event,” said DJ Boogie Sid. He stated that they have assembled a team of dedicated young people to help with the ground work, such as content creation and digital space for the event.

DJ Boogie Sid said they will have numerous activities such as Motswaiso in order to stimulate culture conversations. “We are going out to get corporate sponsors. We believe we can’t do it alone and everyone, including the corporate should be involved in issues of culture. Culture is actually the fabric of every nation. It’s our DNA. The train has started moving and things are shaping up,” he added.

SOTS was last held in 2020. Since its inception in 2005, the cultural event has experienced successful editions.
