GUC first-year students get promised laptops

To qualify for the windows 11 laptops with Microsoft Office preinstalled, not only did the students have to be fulltime and government sponsored, but also had to be citizens who would complete their courses before reaching the age of 35.
They also had to have obtained a minimum cut off of 36 points in Botswana Genberal Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) or equivalent for mainstream even after upgrading their results and 31 points for OVC, RAC and SEN. Furthermore, they needed to be first time beneficiaries of the government sponsorship.
Speaking to Mmegi newspaper the GUC’s marketing officer, Kuneni Moswela said the institution had kept its promise. In an advertisement calling for registration, the university had promised all eligible applicants a free laptop, which they would reportedly keep beyond completion of their courses.
GUC is a Botswana Qualifications Authority registered and accredited vocational training instituttion offering relevant high quality education, business, engineering, health and social sciences training from to degree levels.
To enhance the quality of their programmes, partnerships have been established with renowned universities in the region and beyond. The institution had its 13th graduation last year which produced 3,713 graduates.
Moswela further revealed that they recently, in August, opened another campus in Maun which so far had attracted more than 75 students but the enrolment was still ongoing.
