Mysterious grave-like site alarms security guard

Terrified of what could possibly be hidden six feet under, the guard put in a call to the police. Business came to a standstill as curious onlookers horded the area where police officers inspected the site. According to a witness who spoke on condition of anonymity, the security guard was alarmed by the alleged fresh gravesite he had not seen before.

Of recent, cases of ritual murder have rocked the quiet town of Lobatse with its Member of Parliament, Thapelo Matsheka arrested and detained after alleged links to the killing of seven-year-old Tlotso Karema.

The site had alarmed the security guard who called 999. Now on high alert to either solve Tlotso's case and/or avoid any further distress to the public, the men in blue thronged the area to investigate as soon as the report was made.

About 10 officers were deployed to the scene as curious onlookers and residents crowded the mysterious scene. For about three hours the police dug through the mysterious fresh gravesite to determine what was buried in it, but they discovered it was nothing.

It was an empty hole, but who dug it and why? These are questions the police will be asking throughout the week as they seek to determine whether it was a gravesite or a false alarm.

Lobatse Woodhall station commander, Daniel Katse confirmed the incident to The Monitor. "We received a report of a mysterious grave that was discovered by an on-duty security guard near the judges' offices. We dispatched officers there to investigate what was happening," he said. The top cop further told The Monitor that it turned out there was nothing buried.

"For now we have little reason to believe it is a gravesite. We strongly believe it is just a fresh hole recently dug that the guard was not aware of. We have liaised with Water Utilities and the Town Council to find out if they had any recent activity in the area," Katse added.
