Bosetu decries poor employer relations

At a press briefing, briefing the media Bosetu Secretary General, Tobokani Rari said the high number of cases in courts is clear demonstration that there is just too many deadlocks and bad blood between the union and the employer on many issues that are best resolved on the table but end up in the courts.
Rari says what continues to bother Bosetu is that the employer continues to defy court orders in on issues where the courts had made a determination .
In the case of scarce skills allowance for Accounts and Business studies teachers , registered in court and awarded I favour of those teachers six years ago.
Rari saysgovernment chose to go the ddelaying tactics way, only paying the few teachers who had taken the government to court, while efforts to engage the employer had hit blanks.
As a result, the qualifications being refused by the employer as meriting scarce skills allowances are being subjected to audit by the qualifications authority to determine whether they merit being regarded as scarce skills.
In another scarce skills matter of 2020 involving members of management who enjoyed scarce skills allowances before promotions. The union was successful in court but government lodged an unnecessary appeal, according to the Bosetu Secretary General
Another matter involving scarce skills for agriculture teachers was determined in favour of teachers last year after the employer failed to challenge the case, but government has since approached the court for a rescission, something Bosetu says is a deliberate time buying and frustrating tactics by the employer.
A similar matter involves brigades lectures offering accounts and business studies which are denied the scarce skills allowance.
