Letlhakane Station Commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu told this publication that they arrested a teenage boy in connection with robbing a cyclist just a few hours of bail.

He said that the 17-year-old suspect had just been released from prison last Thursday and committed an offence just a few hours after his release.

The teenage boy is accused of committing numerous offences amongst them rape, robbery and assault. He has been remanded in custody at the Letlhakane Prison for the last 14 days prior to the robbery incident.

Maphephu also said the 17-year-old man allegedly robbed a cyclist aged 24 his mountain bicycle valued at P4,000, a smart phone and cash amounting to P600.

“The victim was cycling to his house in the wee hours of Friday from visiting friend and he met three men who assaulted him badly,” he added. The police boss said suspects aged 17 and 24 have been arrested and some of the properties have been recovered.

He stated that people must heed their call and walk in pairs at night.
