IDM inducts new students

The orientation was held in Gaborone campus to introduce the students to the school structure of academics, key success factors, academic support and learner support services.

Speaking during the orientation, IDM assistant director (academic services) Mathias Chida boldly spoke about the life of Gaborone (melting pot), alcohol and substance abuse.

He advised the students to be aware of the twin evils for them to be able reach the destination and make their parents and the nation proud.

” We expect each and every student to regularly attend classes on time, minimum 80% attendance per module, manage time and be of good discipline,” said Chida.

He reminded students that timely submission of assignments, communicating with lecturers and accepting responsibility for their learning together with using the library for research and avoiding plagiarism will lead them to succeed academically.

As part of their learner support services, students were introduced to student welfare counselling services psycho-social support, accommodation, sports and recreation, various discipline inter campus games, SRC-Student leadership and governance, health and Wellness as well as emergency services transporting sick students.

The school management further encouraged the tudents to venture into different integral parts of wider support system such as instructional technology, use of moodle for loading teaching resources and online teaching as well as inducting on online searches to improve their academic performances.
