The Reds announced the signing of two Kenyan players, Duncan Otieno and Mark Makwata on two-year deals.

Otieno is a 28 year-old midfielder who previously played for Zambian side, Lusaka Power Dynamos.

He arrives to an already rich midfield that has the likes of Lesego Galenamotlhale, Lebogang Ditsele, Karabo Phiri and recently signed Mothusi Cooper. Makwata on the other hand will bolster the striking force that already has Onkabetse Makgantai. The 27 year-old also previously played in Zambia as well as his home country, Kenya for AFC Leopards.

The Reds had already created a space for the striker after parting ways with Kekaetswe Moloi at the end of last season. Another forward, Joel Mogorosi announced his retirement recently, joining the club’s technical team as an assistant coach. With the two new signings, GU are expected to maintain their status as the favorite to win the league title next season. They also have the CAF Champions League campaign in sight as they look to emulate Township Rollers and Jwaneng Galaxy who previously reached the group stages of the continental showpiece.

The club has also shown its plan to continue dominating in the years to come when they promoted two young players to the senior team over the weekend. Omphile Phale was promoted from the club’s development side and joined the senior team on a three-year deal.

The 18-year old winger joins another young player, Kutlo Othusitse who has also signed his first professional contract this past weekend. The Reds have also bolstered their women’s team with the signature of The Mares player, Lone Galefetoge. She joined the club on a two-year deal after spending the previous season at Lusaka Dynamos Ladies team.
