Wildlife officer perishes in fatal accident

According to Letlhakane Police Station Commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, the duo of veterinary officers was travelling in a wildlife-vehicle to Thalamabele on Saturday night.

Maphephu said that the wildlife vehicle they were using overturned on the gravel road killing the 45-year-old driver instantly. He said the duo was travelling from Mmeya to Thalamabele where they were camping.

He stated that the driver was certified dead upon arrival at Orapa Hospital whereas the passenger sustained minor injuries and was treated and discharged on the same day. Maphephu said they are yet to establish the cause of the vehicle overturning. Investigations on the matter are ongoing.
