Molefhi is eyeing the party chairperson seat and will challenge Vice President Slumber Tsogwane. Tsogwane’s lobby team has been out in the open and shared its aims as far back as a month ago while Molefhi just revealed his team days ahead of the elective congress.

Molefhi’s team consists of secretary-general: Shaw Kgathi, deputy secretary-general: Unity Dow, unchallenged treasurer: Satar Dada, deputy treasurer: Tebelelo Seretse and additional members are Bridget Mavuma, Tekolo Gosego, Julia Miranda, and Falaki Mononi. Its tagline is 'Tsholetsa Serodumo, Seriti Le Popagano, Go Ya Phenyong’.

Tsogwane’s team consists of secretary-general: Kavis Kario, deputy secretary-general: Lemogang Kwape, treasurer: Satar Dada, deputy treasurer: Jagdish Shah, and additional members including Ngaka Ngaka, Oabile Regoeng, Machana Shamukuni, Angelina Sengalo, and Neo Kealotswe. It defines itself with the tagline 'A United BDP, 2024 And Beyond'. Molefhi’s team has four former ministers Kgathi, Seretse, MP Dow, and himself.

Outgoing deputy secretary-general Kgathi said he believes that their team can still win at the congress since some BDP members believe that they can lead as they have time to campaign for the party for the 2024 General Elections because they are self-employed. “The campaign is going well and we are hopeful that we will win. We hope the members understand why we are contesting since we are advocating for unity.

As self-employed members we will have time to campaign as compared to those who are working,” Kgathi said. He added that some of the things they believe in are to revive and re-energise party structures towards the 2024 General Elections, ensure that the party committee guides government policy, promote consultation and collective responsibility and ensure a culture of discipline, accountability and ethical conduct at all levels of the party structures and promote continuity and progressive leadership development within the party.

In addition, the team aims to accelerate the commencement of a school to promote leadership development within the BDP.
