The tournament is the brainchild of CRACKiT Tuitions and features crowd pullers, Township Rollers, Extension Gunners, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Masitaoka.

The tournament’s objective, according to the organisers is to promote sports tourism as well as give the football fans some entertainment ahead of the start of the new season.

The four teams will battle it out on August 27 in a knockout format. CRACKiT Tuitions chief executive officer, Moemedi Senwelo said he hopes the tournament will be an annual competition and grow in leaps and bounds. “Our involvement in football started at Chiefs but it was only until the end of the season. We hope this tournament will be a success.

As part of our plan to give back to the community of Lobatse, which is the host town, we have decided to engage Lobatse companies for cleaning and security services so that we empower them,” he said.

Tickets for the one-day spectacular have started selling at Spar Franchises across the country. Senwelo also revealed that they will start activations for the event immediately.

The tournament winners will get P300, 000 while the runners up will walk away with P100, 000. The semi finalists will each get P50,000. The organisers have also revealed there will be individual prizes as well. Players will battle it out for the Player of the Tournament award as well as the Best Goalkeeper and the Top Goalscorer awards.

Coaches have not been left out as well and will fight for the best gaffer award. For each match, there will also be a prize for the Man of the Match who will walk away with P1, 000. Speaking on behalf of Masitaoka, Vincent Phiri said they are encouraged by such initiatives and said the tournament will help his side in terms of how far they are with preparations for next season. Gunners representatives were also happy that besides checking out new combinations, the tournament would also give them financial boost if they win it.
