Tebogo smashed the 100m record at the recent World Junior Championships in Cali, Columbia when he ran 9.91 secs.

Ironically, the time is synonymous with the emergency medical services number, 991. The company presented a cheque to Tebogo in Gaborone this morning after the athlete’s triumphant return from Colombia.

Tebogo won a gold medal in the 100m before settling for silver in the 200m race. Tebogo, who has drawn comparisons with the great Usain Bolt, is already assured of more than P200,000 from the government’s athletes incentive program after he broke the Under-20 record in Oregon, United States during the World Senior Championships and won the two medals in Columbia.
