Makhadzi to rock Palapye on Independence

Event organizers, Gilbert Promotions, this week released a full line-up, which includes Makhadzi’s fellow South Africans Sdala B & Paige, Vee Mampeezy, Slizer, Khoisan, Eskimos, Ezra Neethings, Mingo Touch, Chef Gustos, Fingers, Ancestral Rituals, Tarz B, Sygosh, Latty. On the decks the line-up inludes DJ Copper Head, DJ KBoys, DJ Sly, DJ Fondo while BJB and Bashi 20 will direct proceedings on the day.
The People’s Festival became a hit last year following the reopening of the industry, hosting a series of successful events that attracted large crowds. The partnership between Makhadzi and Gilbert Promotions hosted events in Molapo Crossing, Francistown, Maun as well as the One Woman Show in Tlokweng. The Director of Gilbert Promotions Gilbert Seagile told Arts & Culture that the event is back by popular demand.
PP Wa Pimp, as Seagile is known across the industry, said Makhadzi remains the most sort after artist in the country, hence they decided to return the music festival. “We give the clients exactly what they want. The People’s Festival is back by popular demand.
Makhadzi will perform her best as she has always done before.
This is the show to look out for this Independence holidays,” said PP wa Pimp. Makhadzi has been on a trip overseas in Canada and the United Kingdom where she was booked to perform. Since the event will be on September 30, which is Botswana’s Independence Day, the organisers have made a free entrance provision for people born in 1966.
“This is just a birthday gift for those that share their birthdays with Botswana. I’m sure they will have a great time on the day,” he added. Tickets for the festival cost P200 early bird for two, standard P150, VIP P1,000 while kids’ tickets go for P20. The early bird promotion ends at the end of August.
