Farmworker allegedly shoots colleague to death

Confirming the incident, Letlhakane station commander Superintendent Michael Maphephu said the murder occurred recently at a farm near the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) about 170km from Letlhakane village.

According to reports by witnesses, the 67-year-old man took a gun belonging to their employer who was absent at the time and allegedly shot his colleague aged 30 years.

It was also reported that the duo had a heated argument earlier before the fatal encounter.

Prior to the argument, Maphephu said the deceased reportedly fought with his girlfriend and the suspect was trying to separate them leading to a heated argument between the farm workers.

He said he deceased man was taken to Letlhakane primary hospital, where he was certified dead upon arrival.

The deceased is from Mosojane village whereas the suspect is from Khwee settlement. The suspect is due to appear before Letlhakane Magistrate's Court today.
