Shoshong’s assistant police station commander, Assistant Superintendent George Simataa Mabuta said they received the suicide report at around 11am on Sunday from a fellow farmer.

Mabuta said the farmer who reported the incident had passed the deceased’s car parked by the roadside early in the morning when going to his cattle post and when returning at around 11am he found the vehicle still parked by the roadside and alerted the deceased’s herders.

“On arrival where his car was parked, the deceased’s herdsmen and the farmer who reported the matter started looking for him and found him hanging on a tree about 800 metres away from the road,” Mabuta narrated.

“He had used a rope to hang himself from a Motlopi tree and did not leave any suicide note. We do not know where he was stationed and his names are still withheld because the matter is still fresh.”

Mabuta said the deceased was rushed to Mahalapye District Hospital where doctors certified he was dead on arrival.
