Makwengwe confident of TAFIC's escape

This is the question that is on the minds of multitudes of TAFIC fans across the country as the team enters the lion’s den in Serowe to play in the Debswana First Division North Playoffs this weekend.
The former Premier League giants will get a second bite at the cherry after fellow Francistown rivals, Eleven Angels clobbered Mochudi Centre Chiefs 5-0 in a promotional game to gain promotion to the Premier League.
TAFIC has roped in Makwengwe with the sole mission of saving the former glamour club from further relegation to lower leagues a few years after it was demoted from Botswana’s top-tier league.
Makwengwe is an accomplished coach whose heroics saw him attracting interest from South Africa where he was briefly hired by Black Leopards to rescue the team from relegation in the GladAfrica Championship.
The GladAfrica Championship is the second-highest league in South African club football. Makwengwe performed his South Africa mission with aplomb hence a lot is expected of him to also do the same for TAFIC.
In an interview with Mmegi Sport, an optimistic Makwengwe said the mood in the Matjimenyenga Boys' camp was very positive. “The mood in our camp is fine. We are now working on the anxiety of the players.
The players are very ready for the games. We are very happy that we will be able to field our full-strength squad because the team is also injury-free. We are currently working on motivating the players not to underestimate or overestimate their opponents,” Makwengwe said.
Asked how the preparations for the promotional games were going, Makwengwe said all is going well. “Some people will say that their preparations are at an advanced stage but for us, I will say we are just waiting for the moment to showcase how prepared we are.” Makwengwe pleaded with people from the northern part of Botswana and the larger TAFIC family to go to Serowe over the weekend in large numbers and offer the team the much-needed support. “Many people from the northern part of Botswana know the rich history of TAFIC.
We are asking them to offer us their support, motivation, and prayers during these trying times. We want them to assist TAFIC to preserve its legacy before it bounces to the Premier League,” Makwengwe pleaded. TAFIC will lock horns with Superstars on Saturday morning (10am) and thereafter slug it out with Zowa United on Sunday morning (10am) at the Serowe Sports Complex.
