Eyewitnesses told Arts & Culture that the incident happened backstage during Vee Mampeezy’s performance at the wee hours of Sunday morning. This publication has also seen a video of the incident, which was shared by the eyewitnesses.

It is said that one of Vee Mampeezy’s bouncers assaulted the stage manager after he (stage manager) confronted one of the musician’s dancers for climbing on the stage frame.

“The incident happened after the stage manager confronted one of the dancers who was dancing on the stage roof top truss. The stage manager felt it was inappropriate and compromised the safety of the performers as well as that of the revellers. But the bouncer attacked him while he was trying to caution the dancer. It was bad,” said the source, who did want to be named.

The source said the incident left many people very disappointed as they felt Vee Mampeezy’s security officer was out of line.

“This needs to be attended to because it has happened before. We know Vee Mampeezy's (otherwise legally known as Odirile Sento) dancers like these stunts, but it is not safe because imagine what might happen if the whole stage collapses on the people,” added the source.

It is not the first time that Vee Mampeezy and his crew is involved in this type of incident after his alleged picnic fight during the Sunday Ultimate event in 2020. Although at the time the musician denied that he and his security personnel fought a stage manager after a video of the incident surfaced on social media, the event organisers were quick to confirm that indeed the incident had happened.

Efforts to get a comment from Vee Mampeezy were unsuccessful as he did not answer his mobile phone nor respond to WhatsApp messages sent to him. This incident comes barely two months after Botswana's most successful musician was slapped with a writ of execution for the sale of his properties through public auction.
