Masisi to open up about Khama feud

Masisi promised to address the nation after consulting with the party’s attorneys. This comes after BDP members at the National Council held on Saturday requested the President to open up on the matter.

Briefing the media, Masisi said the council has resolved to see to the need to keep the nation abreast on the issue. Masisi and Khama’s feud started in 2019 when the latter openly supported the opposition to de-campaign the ruling party (BDP).

“Nna ga kena letlhoo mogo Khama le ha ele kilo mo go ene. Ga ke batle go mo tseela bogosi jwa gagwe kana dipe ditshwanelo tsa gagwe. Ne ka tshosiwa thata ke kgang ya gore ke batla go mmolaa. Nna gake na maikaelelo ao,” he said.

On other issues, the President said he cannot change the rule of law if someone is under investigation as that must be allowed to take off. Masisi said he does not have power over matters of the courts.

Furthermore, he said the COVID-19 audit report will be presented in Parliamanet soon.

“If there is any corruption done, then the law will take its course. Issues will be referred either to Botswana Police Service or the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime,” he said. Masisi hailed the council the most successful since the outbreak of COVID-19.
