David Tlale graces Gabs July Fashion Show

The event was also graced by the presence of the Minister of Finance, Peggy Serame, Mrs Botswana reigning Queen, Ambrociah Samboko and Keno Custom Suits co-founder Donald Nnoto. David Tlale is a South African fashion designer who is renowned for setting pace in the industry.

In an interview, the sterling designer highlighted that he showcased a fusion of collections. The first collection which was Orange and White, accessorised with sunglasses and sling bags was according to Tlale, “a monogram for a collaboration with Avon South Africa.” Another collection that he showcased was the Brown and Gold collection, and he stated that it was an Autumn-Winter collection fused with the ‘black story.’ Moreover, it was debuted at Paris Fashion Week in March.

The impeccable fashion designer showcased a Bridal Collection, which he said was launched three weeks ago. “The combination is to say, here we are, we are a brand that is proudly made in South Africa and proudly made in Africa and all we want to do is make sure people look good,” David Tlale cemented. Meanwhile, Tlale gifted Honourable Peggy Serame with an exclusive coat from his collection. Upon receiving the gift, she expressed utmost gratitude towards the gesture.

Furthermore, she applauded the designers, deeming them as incredibly talented. Local designers were not left behind as they displayed their well crafted and creative apparel, which amazed the audience greatly proving that indeed the fashion industry in Botswana is striking.

The short-listed fashion design brands which showcased were Lira Fashions, Chosen Designs, MelG Designs, Seloba Creations, Art-I-Story, Butterfly Couture and Lutterloh BW. The ramp was beautifully decorated with local models, amongst them being the Gabs July Fashion Show fashion director, Thabang Mmolotsi and Thanolo Keutlwile who is the Face of the fashion show.

Meanwhile, the award winning duo, Khoisan, serenaded and had the audience dancing to their remarkable hits. They shared the stage with Yvonne and Gingerstone of Colder-Than-Water hit, who performed their debut singles respectively.
