Wildlife foundation, Golf Union sign MOU

The signing took place on Friday morning at the Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf club. The collaborative efforts come as the BGU plans to take golf to the remote communities and erase the perspective that the golf sport is just only for the elite.
Speaking to Sport Monitor, BGU president, Modiri Phuthego said, “In an effort to make golf more accessible, my organisation saw it fit to extend the sport of golf to communities that have little to no access to the sport." Meanwhile, the director and founder of Okavango Wildlife Human Conflict Foundation, Kenosi Kamina explained that their main interest is to find ways that his organisation could compensate those injured during conflict with wildlife.
He also said the assistance could be in the form of medical insurance packages, starting up businesses to help sustain the injured for longer and most importantly raise awareness and educate people on how to co-exist with wildlife.
Explaining further, BGU secretary, Boikhutso Ramohobo said the collaboration between the two parties comes as the organisation has made efforts to support some local players to play on a professional platform. The two organisations will host a golf tournament at the Kasane golf course on September 3.
