GU will recognise the outstanding players from the just-ended season as well as celebrate its 55th anniversary. The team won almost everything on offer, including the league and Orange FA Cup.

During a press briefing in Gaborone Tuesday, GU marketing manager, Herbert Letsebe said there will be 10 categories in the players’ awards.

These include the Player of the Season, Player’s Player of the Season, Supporters' Player of the Season, Top Goal Scorer, Young Player of the Season, Directors Award, Most Improved Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season, Most Disciplined Player, and Goal of the Season.

Kebue was nominated in the Player of the Season, Most Disciplined Player, and Most Improved Player categories. Kebue had one of his best seasons as his performance in GU colours earned him a Zebras call-up. He is captaining the Zebras at the ongoing COSAFA Cup tournament in South Africa and has been influential as the team reached the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, GU announced it will build its training ground to be used by both the men's and women’s teams.

“The club got into a lease agreement with BIAC (Botswana Institute of Administration and Commerce) for a building opposite the University of Botswana and the club is set to build a facility with 3,000 seats. The project is set to take a period of six to eight months to complete,” club director, Nicholas Zakhem said.

He said a new sponsor is to replace ZAC Construction on the front part of the shirts will be unveiled on July 26. ZAC Construction will, however, continue as a major sponsor. Former GU player, Joel Mogorosi who has just hung up his boots, will move to the technical team.

“The club will in the next two weeks appoint a new coach who will join the existing technical committee,” Zakhem said. GU has to appoint a new coach as CAF has set new qualification rules for coaches guiding clubs in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.
