Late last year, the BFA said it was working on a new contract for the coach. The then Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Goabaone Taylor said the contract would be ready before the WAFCON tournament in Morocco.

She said the contract for the coach has been on the agenda for some time. Nkutlwisang is with the team in Morocco.

In February this year the BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti said the association had engaged the Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) to assist with the budget for the national team coach. He reiterated that the intention is to reward Ronaldo and his technical team with contracts before the WAFCON showpiece.

However, this week the BFA CEO, Mfolo Mfolo, was reluctant to be drawn into discussing why the association has stalled to give Nkutlwisang a contract despite her sterling record with the national team. “The issue involving the contract of the women's national team is an issue that falls under the mandate of the national executive committee. Secondly, it is important to note that the team is in the middle of a very crucial schedule. Discussing issues surrounding the coach’s contract can disrupt the team.

It is important not to disrupt the team,” Mfolo said when asked why Nkutlwisang is yet to be offered a contract. Nkutlwisang has been with the national team technical setup for over 12 years before she got the top post. All along she has been working without a contract. She made history by guiding the team to its maiden WAFCON tournament.

She had previously expressed her frustrations that working without a contract means that she cannot go around the country in search of talent for the national team. Not going around the country to look for talent often times meant that the team is dominated by players from Gaborone.
