The one sided game was part of the league activities that were played at Wharic Park, Jwaneng and Palapye. As the league defending champions, Hogs went into the match with an upper hand. Ryders had no answers to the questions that Hogs were asking through the entire game. It was all about playing to honour the fixture for the team.

Hogs manager, Lynn Warburton said they had a good run in the field ahead of the game.

“It was a pretty one sided game, but Ryders played in good spirit and did not give up for the whole match. It was a difficult fixture for them and we appreciate the spirit in which it was played,” she said.

Warburton also said this year, in coming back from two years of no rugby, all clubs are now in one league and playing each other. When asked what other clubs should do to step up and be in the same level as Hogs, Warburton explained that many clubs lost players and are rebuilding.

“So I feel that the best thing is for clubs to have as much game time as possible to give developing players experience,” she said.

At the beginning of the season, Hogs had some players making a comeback. The players had previously played for the club in 2017 and 2018. Warburton said it is always good to welcome them back to the family.

The next fixtures for Hogs 1 and Hogs 2 are both against Great North Tigers. Hogs 2 are scheduled to play away the week after the Sir Seretse Khama weekend and Hogs 1 are scheduled to play at home the week after the President's Day weekend.

Meanwhile in other games, Hogs reserve beat UB Rhinos 33-5. Hogs 2 lost to UB Rhinos 16-12. In an interesting turn of events, BUIST pulled a shocker beating Canon Jaguars 23-17 in Palapye. In the women’s 7s festival, Ryders 5-15 Savage; UB 27-7 Savage and Savage 24-5 Hogs, BUIST 12-5 Shakawe. UB 26-0 Hogs. UB 28-0 Ryders. UB was allocated free points because Ryder’s could not play due to injuries.

In another league match played in Jwaneng, BDF Cheetahs walloped Jwaneng Wildbeests 24-12.
