Mares run riot in practice match

They were initially scheduled to play Uganda but the match was reportedly called off after the CECAFA side experienced logistical travel issues to Morocco. Uganda is said to have arrived in Morocco late on Friday night. However the Mares faced off Najah Sous FC, a team plying their trade in the Morocco Super League. The Mares emerged 7-0 winners, proving too good for the home side with goals from Esalenna Galekhuthe, Balotlhanyi Johannes, Refilwe Tholakele (brace), Atlang Busang and Michelle Abueng. They are now scheduled face Togo in their next match on Wednesday in Marrakech, before heading to Rabat where the team will be based for the tournament.

Meanwhile local referees, Tirelo Mositwane and Ookeditse Keitsiope got the COSAFA nod when they were selected as some of the officials for the regional tournament scheduled for July 5-17, 2022. Both Mositwane and Keitsiope will leave this Wednesday and expected back on July 18. The Botswana Football Association (BFA) communications officer, Tumo Mpatane will also head to Durban where he will act as a media officer at the tournament. The Zebras are already in camp to prepare for the tournament with head coach, Mogomotsi Mpote having called up a couple of young players.
