Botho hosts charity Golf day

Speaking during the prize giving ceremony, Botho University Pro Vice Chancellor, Ananth Ram stated that Botho comes a long way as a leading university. He indicated that in 1997-2002, the university was a national leader in vocational and corporate and from 2003-2007 it was building on vocational education to higher education; 2008-2012 went beyond computing, building state of the art
infrastructure and attracting international students. “In 2013-2017 Botho became a regional university, continuing to grow programme offer and research, growing our regional presence and continental recognition and from 2018 to date we still hold on to sustainable growth,” he said.
Ram disclosed that proceeds from the event will be channelled to support charity organisations while the handing over will be done during the main event next month. “This is in line with the newly launched Botho University Community Plan to fund impactful research that promote sustainability, employability and economic growth with a view to promote entrepreneurship and fund scholarships as well as to fund long term high impact community development projects.
Winners from the Botho University Charity Golf Day went away with smiles all over their faces as they got prizes from different sponsors. Position one went to BNSC’s Thato Kepaletetswe, Mokgosi Mokgosi, Gift Nkwe and Petrus Molefe. Their prizes include Hilton Garden Inn four standard rooms accommodation with breakfast for two in each room, golf kit by Botho University and sports bags by XCO Group. Position two went to XCO Group Fracesco Manis, Ebu Mahomed, Edwin Madigela and David Masole. Prizes for position two include four cooler boxes by BK Hardware, four vacuum flasks and T-shirts by BK Hardware while position three went to Clifford Maribe, Solly Matike, Charlie Manyapedza and Pele Moleta of Team ENKO. Prizes for position three winners included four bribal wine set, T-Shirts by XCO Group and four golf bags by Botho University. Mahomed won the nearest pin as well as the longest drive.
When giving remarks, the chief Executive officer of Business Botswana, Norman Moleele said Botho has done a good job by scaling their series of community service initiatives aimed at empowering both the advantaged and disadvantaged citizens. He also said Botho University have always worked with the community by helping and giving support to those who needed it the most as well as helping the government in terms of giving scholarships to the citizens.
