The four-month-old baby girl was found by mourners at Mengwe graveyard a week ago.

Tutume Police station commander, Jerry Halahala told The Monitor yesterday (Sunday) that they do not have any leads on the mother or relatives of the abandoned baby girl.

He, therefore, appealed to the public to assist them with any information that could assist in locating the mother or relatives of the four-month-old baby. Halahala said that the baby is still in their care through the help of social services at Tutume Primary Hospital.

In an earlier interview with The Monitor, Halahala stated that mourners who had gone for burial on June 11 found the baby wrapped in a small blanket at the graveyard.

The same mourners were alarmed by the baby’s cries from the nearby bush. If the mother is found she is likely to be charged with child negligence or attempted murder.
