Despite being in existence for only a year, the association's membership is currently at 400 people. “The organisation aims to make it easier for chefs in Botswana to be able to act accordingly in the professional world, help them unleash their talent and showcase it and for them to be able to make a living out of it. And also be able to raise Botswana's flag up high out there. That will enable the world to realise that Botswana as well has some good chefs. This will also help with gastronomic tourism in Botswana,” Masala said.

Chef Shawn who is the president of African Chef Alliance Chef Association advised that Botswana should invest in culinary arts. He also indicated how education is really important in culinary arts. He gave examples of how students can learn not to throw away food and come up with new ideas of how it can be further used to make other products.

Chef Richards, who is the senior member of the association, pledged to contribute P500 per month, and the general manager of Masa Protea Hotel pledged P1,000 for lifetime towards the association, so that the association can grow and be able to achieve the goals it had set for itself as an organisation. Most young chefs also pledged P200 per month towards the association. Richards thanked and acknowledged the Braintec Cleaning company for being the only and first corporate sponsor to the BCA.

The BCA is set to host a food festival later this year with the date yet to be confirmed.
