Katisenge-Tizhani gets TAFISA nod

Speaking to Sport Monitor, Katisenge-Tizhani said the appointment means a lot for her because she gets the opportunity to impact and contribute to policy development at an international level.
“I have always had a dream of contributing to the growth and development of my continent and this is one way of doing it. TAFISA has amazing programmes and projects that we will greatly benefit from as a country and continent,” she said.
Katisenge-Tizhani also said as the leading international sport for all organisations, TAFISA is in the privileged position to bring joy, health, social interaction, integration and development to communities and citizens around the globe through the promotion of Sport for All and physical activity. TAFISA has over 360 member organisations in more than 170 countries on all continents. It actively cooperates with other global change-makers, including the UN, WHO, UNESCO, the IOC, ICSSPE and others, in its mission to create a Better World.
Katisenge-Tizhani was nominated by the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) since Botswana is a member of TAFISA through BNSC. She has played a visible role in the sport for all space through introduction of inclusive sports programmes for kids with disabilities and others from marginalised communities. In 2015 she became the first Motswana to represent Botswana and Africa at the United Nations Youth Leadership Summit for sport for development and peace.
In the same year she was awarded the Sports Administrator of the Year award at the Botswana Sport Awards. She has served in various capacities in sport, from the Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) as public relations officer, Gaborone International Meet (GIM) Local Organising Committee member, BNSC among others.
