In an interview with Arts & Culture, Kast said this time around, the race would be in a form of a competition with a grand prize of P50 000 up for grabs.

He explained that although they are yet to reveal the dates for the commencement of the race, preparations are already in full swing.

He explained that they are in the process of setting up a platform where teams can register to participate in this year’s edition.

“We are putting together a walk race of 200km from Ramatlabama, Kanye and Gaobrone. Very soon we will call the media for a press conference where we will reveal all the details including the dates, but basically this is a competition whereby the winning team stands to win P50 000. We want to open up registration phase to give people enough time to prepare for the walk, which will be this year,” said Kast.

Kast also stated that the competition idea would be extended to corporate to take part in the walk race competition. He said this is year’s campaign is strategy race based on endurance which would also involve camping and content creating.

He said the idea is to later on have an annual 1000km international walk race that would have participants from across the globe.

The other difference with this edition is that the event organiser, who has been the chief walker over the years would not take part in the walk race.

“This time I won’t be taking part in the walk this time just to give others experience of this walk race. I have realised that many people take this walking lightly so I want them to come on board and have this interesting experience,” Kast added.

Kast Tlatsa Lebala campaign started in 2017, when he embarked on a 1000km from Maun to Gaborone after a lot of anticipation and doubts from some section of the public.

According to Kast, campaign is a bid to raise funds and to unite Batswana around their music and the arts in general.
