New accused in firearms case ‘stole’ P12, 200 pistol

Apart from the second accused Khama’s no show earlier today at Broadhurst Regional Court, the new development in the firearms case is the addition of Khunou as the fifth accused person to the charge sheet.

Khunou faces a single charge of stealing by a person employed in the public service. He appeared before court alongside first accused Isaac Kgosi, third accused Keabetswe Makgophe and fourth accused Victor Paledi. The quartet faces charges ranging from unlawful possession of firearms to aiding and abetting possession of a special firearm.

It is alleged that around March 1, 2016 at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport cargo handling facility, whilst employed in the public service Khunou stole one Jericho PL 9x 19 drawn sight pistol and its accessories valued at USD 1, 017. 90 (one thousand seventeen dollars and ninety cents) being the property of the State, which came into his possession by virtue of his employment. The case continues on August 30, 2022.
