Corruption-busting agency boss suspended

“The Office of the President wishes to inform members of the public that Tymon Katlholo, the Director General of the Directorate of Corruption and Economic Crime has been suspended from duty in accordance with Section 112 of the Constitution with immediate effect.”(sic)

Details pertaining to the decision will be communicated later today”, said the statement signed by John-Thomas Dipowe, acting permanent secretary for Botswana Government Communications and Information Systems.

In another statement, OP said the suspension was due to misconduct.

"The decision to suspend Mr Katlholo is necessitated by the fact that in the course of his official duties, he has misconducted himself and exhibited behaviour that is incompatible with the conduct of a public officer. In this regard, established disciplinary procedures will be followed to the letter", stated Dipowe.
