Dumped baby given to NGO

The newborn baby girl was found wrapped in a maroon baby blanket and is currently in the care of Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH). In a previous interview, the police suspected that the mother did not go to the hospital but rather had a home birth. Francistown Police Station commander, superintendent Lebalang Maniki told The Monitor that they have taken the dumped baby girl, who was in their care at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital, to an NGO.

He said that he could not reveal the identity of the NGO due to confidentiality reasons. He added that the NGO was engaged as one of their stakeholders so that they assist in the upbringing of the child. According to Maniki, the baby was moved to the NGO recently after they failed to find the baby’s mother, family, or relatives. The search for the baby’s parents, however, still continues.
