The Kgatleng giants were on menacing mood on the day as they beat visiting Motaung Young Fighters 3-1 in a match played at the Riverplate grounds. In front of a full capacity venue Magosi took the lead on the 26th minute as Bokamoso Mbambo beat the goalkeeper from close range. Chiefs had a 1-0 lead at half time but were given a scare as Fighters drew level a minute into the second half.

Chances flooded for the home side and ultimately Orabile Powe reinstated Magosi’s lead on the 59th minute. It was 3-1 on the 68th minute as Khumoetsile Kufingwa tucked in from close range. The goal was the final nail on the coffin as Magosi bagged the maximum points on the afternoon. In another development, Chiefs’ title rivals, Holy Ghost were held to a 0-0 draw by Matebejana at SSG grounds. The two teams are now logged at 42 points, but Holy Ghost have a better goal difference ahead of the final league games round to be played next Saturday.

Third placed Black Forest are now out of the promotion contest after playing to 1-1 Uniao Flamingo Santos. Holy Ghost and Chiefs will battle for the automatic promotion place. “We wanted to score early but that did not happen and it gave them some confidence on the match. Then we thought we should score more than two goals but it was a challenge and they gave us a good contest. We felt that this tie was much better than our tie with Holy Ghost and we should have blinked. Now we feel our way to Premier League has been paved. The final game will be vital for us to take the maximum points, we do not need a draw, we should aim for a win at all costs,” Tebele told Monitor Sport on Saturday afternoon. Chiefs will be away to Red Sparks on the final day match.
