Two in court, more arrests for stock theft

The duo, Tebo Mogale, 32, and Unabatsho Bokeng, 24, both of Phase 1 in Letlhakane, was arrested in Mopipi last Wednesday after the two were suspected of stealing two matimela goats in Letlhakane.
It is reported that after committing the alleged crime, the duo transported the goats to the home of the girlfriend of one of the accused in Mopipi where they slaughtered one. The Botswana Police Service public relations officer, assistant commissioner Dipheko Motube stated that the duo is also charged with shop-breaking after they allegedly broke into a nearby store where they stole a 24-volt battery, car tyres, and cooking oil.
Meanwhile, Motube said Kgomo-Khumo operatives on Thursday arrested yet another three suspects aged between 24 and 67 suspected to have stolen stock.
“The trio, a 49-year-old woman of Mmolawa ward in Khumaga village, her 56-year-old boyfriend of Moxiki ward in Mopipi, and a 67-year-old butchery owner from Dimbo ward in Mopipi were arrested after they failed to satisfactorily account for possession of three calves and a cow in Motopi village,” he said.
Motube stated that in Xeredom cattle post near Orapa, the police also arrested a 54-year-old man of Metsiaela ward in Letlhakane after he was found in possession of a calf suspected to have been stolen.
