According to Tonota acting station commander Assistant superintendent, Ontibile Motladiile the police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with murdering another man in his late 20s.

Motladiile said the deceased man was reportedly stabbed by a sharp object suspected while he was trying to break up a fight. He said the incident took place late Monday night at a local Shebeen at Mogakamme ward in Tonota.

Furthermore, he stated his office is yet to establish whether the suspect has any history of violence and/or previous convictions. The Tonota station commander added: “The suspect is still in police custody and is likely to appear before Francistown Magistrate on Thursday.”

In addition, Motladiile noted that the suspect is also a Tonota resident and they are yet to establish the relationship between the two (deceased and suspect). On another matter, Motladiile indicated that this is the first case of its kind where a man killed another in their policing area. He also said they have also registered three murder cases since the beginning of the year all related to passion killings.
