The deceased was a passenger of a truck that was involved in an accident with a Honda Fit vehicle. No. 2 district officer commanding, senior superintendent Paul Oketsang told The Monitor the accident was reported at around 4.25pm and is being investigated.

Oketsang said the truck that had three people on board including the driver, the deceased and another 26-year-old passenger was from the quarry.

“The Honda Fit driver was travelling alone. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated and released the same day while the other passenger sustained a fractured ankle and is currently hospitalised at the Sekgoma Memorial Hospital,” he said.

Meanwhile, Oketsang said they are also investigating yet another serious accident that occurred in Serowe on Saturday morning that left one hospitalised.

According to Oketsang, the accident occurred after a Toyota Prado was hit by a Toyota Runx from behind on the highway to Orapa.

“The Toyota Prado was driven by a 50-year-old man who escaped the accident uninjured while a Toyota Runx passenger, a 30-year-old man sustained serious injuries and is currently hospitalised at the Sekgoma Memorial Hospital. The 29-year-old driver of a Toyota Runx is likely to be charged with careless driving,” Oketsang said.
