The Managing Director of the bank, Dennis Kennedy, told clients at the launch that his unlisted outfit plans to open new branches in Palapye and at Gaborone's new Central Business District (CBD), west of Nelson Mandela Drive.
Kennedy said the expansion shows his bank's commitment to Botswana by according easy access and creating convenience for clients.
'At Stanbic Bank Botswana, we are delighted to officially announce the opening of this branch,' said Kennedy.
'Worth noting is that we have set up shop in a location where no-one could get access to banking services (before).'
The Broadhurst Branch is the oldest of Stanbic's network. It was first opened in 1992 as Union Bank Botswana and has grown to employ its current complement of 22 employees.
At its former location off Kubu and Legolo Roads, Stanbic's Broadhurst Branch fell victim to a series of heists.
Stanbic currently has four branches in Gaborone, one in Francistown and one in Maun.
'As well as being the leading emerging markets bank in Africa, our mandate is to continue to expand our footprint in Botswana (while) improving the banking experience of our customers,' said Gulaam Abdulla, Stanbic Bank Chairman.
'We believe this refurbished and more conveniently located Broadhurst Branch will go a long way towards doing that.'
