Obakeng hosts Gamaila All White Gospel Picnic

The event, which has already received warm reception from members of the public especially different churches, will be headlined by Winnie Mashaba, Thulani Manana, Godfrey Mahlangu, Rosyline Sathekge and Ayanda Shange, international artistes. From the local shores there will be performances by Obakeng, Kabelo Eric, Johnson Pheto, Motlalepula, Tshepo Zion and many others.

In an interview with Arts & Culture, Obakeng explained that the show has received warm reception from the general public more especially people from different churches. Obakeng, as Sengwaketse is popularly known in the music industry, also said they will ensure a safe and secure festival as security will be very tight.

Even though the event is a gospel concert, he stated that cooler boxes will be allowed at the venue. "However, we will not allow bottles inside. This event is for everyone and the whole nation, that is why it is called Gamaila All White Gospel Picnic (a national prayer through gospel music). Whoever wants to come and have an encounter is allowed regardless of their state. We need to take everyone to God's kingdom through this event rather than judging people," he explained.

He also pointed out that gospel was music for everyone therefore their decision to open the venue for different kinds of people to be part of the event. Furthermore, he explained that they asked for opinions from people and pastors who advised them to open doors for everyone since the event is a revival. Obakeng also said the event came to his mind as an idea four years back but he waited for the right time for it to manifest. Moreover, he said Team All White will carryout a Clean Up Campaign soon together with guest musicians as a way of promoting the event.

He added that they are selling food stalls to members of the community who would want to make an income during the event. He said this would benefit all the families. Obakeng also promised nothing but the best gospel event to come out of the country saying most big events were from circular genres. Tickets are sold at all Spar shops countywide and the Webtickets kiosk in Riverwalk and Cafe 87 in Kanye. Tickets sell for P200 standard, P300 VIP and P500 VVIP, while food stalls sell at P1,500 food stall and P5,000 corporate stalls.
