Pedestrian dies in Mochudi road mishap

Deputy Divisional Traffic Officer for South-Central, Senior Superintendent Boiki Mojalemotho confirmed the tragic incident to The Monitor.

He revealed the accident occurred around 8:35am when the deceased was trying to cross the road.

According to Mojalemotho, the 28-year-old driver, who is currently in police custody helping the police with investigations, was under the influence of alcohol.

“We expect drivers to be cautious when approaching the pedestrian crossing, but shockingly this accident occurred when the deceased was trying to cross the road at the pedestrian crossing,” Mojalemotho said.

“The driver is likely to face the offence of causing death by dangerous driving under the influence of alcohol and he is likely to appear before Mochudi Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).”
