Burglary, housebreaking, theft worry the police

According to No 2 District officer commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang following the surge in such crimes, police in Serowe and Palapye have formed teams to fight the scourge as villagers continue to lose their valuables at the hands of criminals as break-ins spiral out of control.
Oketsang said villagers live in constant fear of criminals who continue to attack day and night.
He further applauded Tshwaragano and Tashangana police teams for their recent breakthrough after arresting a group of lads suspected to have been terrorising Palapye and Serowe residents.
“Tshwaragano police team at Palapye Police Station has on Saturday managed to arrest three men, two aged 25 and 24 years old, and recovered stolen goods worth P4,500. The team also managed to make a breakthrough in a robbery incident that occurred over the Easter Holiday in which property worth over P21,500 was stolen but later recovered. The stolen goods including fridges, television and other electronic gadgets,” he said.
Moreover, Oketsang applauded the Serowe team for its efforts to curb theft incidents following the arrest of three suspects that allegedly terrorised Serowe residents with burglary, housebreaking, and theft.
“Reports of burglary are a daily occurrence with three to four cases reported in a week. These criminals spend the entire day loitering around the area, studying people’s movements and looking for a target to later at night steal from,” he said.
